Susanne Angarano, Principal, has earned the WELL Accredited Professional (WELL AP™) credential through the International WELL Building Institute™ (IWBI™), placing her among a group of leading professionals who are dedicated to supporting human health and well-being in the built environment.

“Design has the unique power to transform the natural environment, built space, and human lives,” explains Angarano. “Throughout my career I have done much research on the use of healthy and sustainable materials and believe that every project, no matter the parameters, has great potential to affect people’s lives and the environment around them. To me, the WELL accreditation was the logical next step forward in progressing my career and my own design philosophies.”

Committed to environmentally sound design, Angarano recognizes the responsibilities of her profession. She is currently heading the interior design team for a research facility at Binghamton University, Nuthatch Hollow, which is targeting Living Building certification. Her design philosophy centers around optimizing environments to respect and honor nature through attention to biophilia, non-human and human systems understanding, beauty, and the relationship to nature, as well as ensuring that the design and material selection provides a healthy environment for its occupants.

The WELL Accredited Professional (WELL AP) credential denotes expertise in the WELL Building Standard™ (WELL™) and a commitment to advancing human health and wellness in buildings and communities. Led by the International WELL Building Institute, WELL is the first building standard to focus exclusively on the health and wellness of the people in buildings. It takes a holistic approach to health in buildings and communities - addressing behavior, operations, and design. The WELL Building Standard focuses on seven concepts: air, water, nourishment, light, fitness, comfort, and mind.
