Ashley McGraw Architects Leads Liverpool Public Library's "Design and Dream Architecture Camp"
On August 7 and 8, the Liverpool Public Library (LPL) held the “Design and Dream Architecture Camp” in collaboration with Ashley McGraw Architects and Appel Osborne Landscape Architecture. Susanne Angarano, Principal, Dan Donovan, Associate Principal, and Stefani Schultz, Interior Designer led the event alongside Appel’s Taylor Goldthwait.
The event explored the processes behind architectural and landscape design through hands-on learning. The teens who attended the camp thought like designers as they brainstormed concepts for an addition to LPL’s Dinosaur Garden. Camp attendees took several factors into account while crafting their designs, these included safety, user experience, environmental impacts, and the preservation of existing traditions. The ideas that resulted from this event will ultimately be incorporated into the final design of the library’s upcoming Dinosaur Garden addition project.
Ashley McGraw previously worked with the Liverpool Public Library on their renovation project. During the project, our team collaborated with the library staff to carefully assess the current program and create a new set of program requirements including the addition of lounge and living room spaces, a quiet study room, a flex-use space called “studio @LPL”, relocation and expansion of the Teen Area, Circulation Desk, and Circulation Workroom, and complete reorganization of the stack and computer areas, and the Children’s Library.
