Spencerport CSD Celebrates the Completion of a Secure Vestibule Addition at Bernabi Elementary School

On Friday, August 30, 2024, Spencerport Central School District celebrated the opening of a new secure vestibule at Bernabi Elementary School with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. This new space is a crucial safety measure for the school and was designed by Ashley McGraw Architects as part of the district's 2022 Capital Improvement Project.

The Capital Improvement Project which was approved by voters in December of 2022 prioritized safety/security and infrastructure needs by building. The key safety and security measures include new secured vestibule entrances in all six schools, enhanced visitor screening systems, electronic door controls, exterior and interior door glazing, and breech/ballistic resistance. Two security vestibules at schools have been completed with an additional three schools finishing roof renovations this year.

Ty Zinkiewich, Superintendent, remarked during the ribbon cutting, "This is really just the first step in a series of phases that we are hoping to employ here in Spencerport. We’re building some momentum to change our buildings and structures in preparation for that next phase of learners here in the district."
