Signorelli and Wolfe Present at 2022 NYSCOSS Fall Leadership Summit
Nicholas Signorelli, Principal, and Catherine Wolfe, Associate Principal / Senior Interior Designer, hosted an interactive panel discussion, “The Aspirational Leader: Holistic Understanding that Builds Agency” at the 2022 New York State Council of School Superintendents (NYSCOSS) Fall Leadership Summit in Saratoga Springs, NY.
If we are only talking about the buildings when we approach capital improvement projects, then we are having the wrong conversation. The design of buildings alone cannot result in fulfilling a district’s vision or achieving educational goals and objectives. Holistic understanding on who the district is, what they are trying to achieve, and how they plan to achieve it is critical to the work that we do in ensuring that the spaces for learning we create will be the conditions for their success. This critical work allows Superintendents in each district to get a better understanding of the needs, works with the district’s community to collectively co-create the initiatives, and ultimately builds agency in people to actively work towards the change they are hoping to see.
This interactive session demonstrated the entire arc of an aspirational leader – from the school level to the community level and beyond. The panel discussion included school leaders:
Jeremy Belfield, Superintendent of Schools, LaFayette Central School District
Daniel Henner, Superintendent of Schools, Liverpool Central School District
Douglas Lawrence, Deputy Superintendent, Liverpool Central School District
