Wolfe Presents at NYS School Boards Conference on Groton CSD STEAM Learning Center
Catherine Wolfe, Senior Interior Designer, co-presented “Space & Its Impact on Academic Success” on Thursday, October 24 at the New York State School Boards Association (NYSSBA) Annual Convention and Expo in Rochester, New York with Margo Martin, Superintendent of the Groton Central School District. Catherine was recently featured in “K-12 Design Gets a College Preview” by Architect Magazine on the latest trends in educational facilities identified by architects and designers across the country.
The presentation centered on the $4.8 million renovated 8,000-square-foot Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) lab and shared-learning space. The design team used form, light, and materials to create a modern learning environment where both teachers and students will feel valued, focused, and inquisitive.
The District is using post occupancy metrics to measure how a renovated space is increasing student engagement. Attendees learned how students are flourishing and gained insight into how learning spaces influence academic success. Based on a District survey, overall satisfaction with education program has risen from 19% to 71%
