Ashley McGraw Architects Names Six New Associate Principals
Ashley McGraw Architects is pleased to announce the appointment of six staff members to Associate Principals of the firm: Roxanne Button, Senior Architect; Liz Hall, Architect; Joanne Hiromura, Senior Landscape Architect; Eric Joerdens, Architect; Jennifer LaBerge, Senior Architect and Interior Designer; and Toni Marcoux, Architect.

Eric Joerdens (AIA, NCARB)
As an Architect at Ashley McGraw Architects' Washington, DC office, Joerdens brings more than 12 years of architectural expertise to the firm. Since joining in 2022, Joerdens has applied his extensive design and project management experience to advance the firm's educational portfolio. His work includes several significant modernization initiatives for the DC Department of General Services and DC Public Schools, most notably the addition projects at Alice Deal Middle School and Ludlow-Taylor Elementary School.
On becoming Associate Principal, Joerdens offered, “It is exciting to continue to grow with Ashley McGraw. While the promotion is an internal company appointment, it is also recognition of our contribution to schools and their communities. This contribution to the community is foundational to our success as a firm – and the teachers and students of each school. It’s great to be part of this impact.”
Jennifer LaBerge (AIA, NCIDQ)
LaBerge is a multi-talented licensed architect and certified interior designer with over 12 years of experience across a diverse range of project types and roles. She joined Ashley McGraw Architects’ Washington, DC office in 2023, bringing a wealth of project expertise in K-12, higher education, science and technology, and feasibility studies. Key project highlights include the Alice Deal Middle School Addition, Barnard Elementary School Expansion, and Davis Elementary HVAC Upgrades/Net Zero Energy Ready for the DC Department of General Services and DC Public Schools. Outside of Washington, DC, LaBerge has also been a key team member for the Conant High School CTE Study for Jaffrey-Rindge Cooperative School District (New Hampshire) and the Relocation of Leonardo da Vinci High School at Buckham Hall for Buffalo Public Schools (New York).

Liz Hall (RA)
Hall has over 11 years of architectural design experience and brings a wealth of expertise across a diverse range of sectors, including educational spaces, corporate and nonprofit offices, and healthcare facilities. Based in our Boston office, Hall is a strong advocate for inclusive and trauma-informed design. She has shared her knowledge and expertise at industry events, including the World Forum, the National Coalition for Campus Children’s Centers, and the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Key current projects include the Orchid Montessori School, an Inclusive Childcare Model Classroom at Horizons for Homeless Children, and developing a trauma-informed toolkit for the Massachusetts Department of Children and Family Services.

Toni Marcoux (RA)
With over 12 years of experience in architectural design, Marcoux brings a broad range of expertise in creating educational spaces for diverse user groups. Known for her ability to deeply understand project requirements and client needs, Marcoux excels at developing practical and elegant solutions that balance functionality with design excellence. Based in our Boston office, her recently completed projects include the Ragon Institute Early Education Center, the Lycée Français de San Francisco Master Plan, and the Edgerley Family Horizons Center.

I’m excited to bring that expertise to the Ashley McGraw Architects' leadership team, while at the same time, learning from their expertise to collaborate in creating even more meaningful environments for the next generation.”
Joanne Hiromura (RLA, CPSI)
Hiromura brings over 43 years of expertise in landscape architecture, with a specialization in designing outdoor environments for children. She focuses on creating vibrant, engaging spaces for schools, childcare facilities, and parks, with a particular passion for natural play areas. Based in Boston, Hiromura’s notable project portfolio includes the Ragon Institute Early Education Center, Cunningham Park Play Garden (Milton, MA), Discovery Meadows Child Development Center Playgrounds at AstraZeneca, Penn State Child Care Center at Hort Woods, and the Botanic Garden Children’s Center at Harvard University.
“I am honored to be promoted to the position of Associate Principal and I look forward to contributing to, and leading with, the talented leadership team at Ashley McGraw,” said Hiromura. In the relatively short time since I joined Ashley McGraw, I’ve been inspired by the high level of professionalism and caring for the growth, development, and success of the organization on a holistic level. I am particularly proud of the creative design work that our landscape team has brought into the world, and I look forward to continuing the trajectory of providing places that inspire and connect children, families and communities.”
Roxanne Button (AIA, CCS, LEED AP, WELL AP, LFA)
Leading Ashley McGraw’s Buffalo office, Button has over 30 years of extensive experience in architecture, interior design, and sustainability consulting in the United States and Canada. Active in the Western New York and design community, Button has served on committees and boards for American Institute of Architects (AIA) National, Habitat for Humanity, New York Upstate United States Green Building Council (USGBC) & Urban Green Chapters, and USGBC National. She is currently on the Board of Directors for AIA Buffalo/Western New York, where she is President and leads the Chapter’s Committee on the Environment (COTE).
“I have known about Ashley McGraw for many years through my involvement with USGBC New York Upstate and always respected the firm's leading stance on sustainable design,” said Button on joining the firm in January 2025. “When the opportunity came up to join, it felt like a natural extension of the work that I was already doing, but this time with the support of an outstanding firm behind me. The commitment to excellence in design - and in all things - immediately resonated with me. I am honored to have been asked to establish and lead the new Buffalo office, and excited to work with my Western NY colleagues and clients in this new role.”
