Matthew Broderick, President, and Calvin Ahn, Associate Principal, presented “Net Zero and Deep Energy Retrofit Toolkit” at the 2019 SUNY/PPAA and NYAPPA Summer Conference in Albany, New York on Wednesday, July 17. They were joined by Indu Lnu, Energy Officer at the University at Albany for the presentation.

Meeting the SUCF directive for Net Zero Carbon new buildings and Deep Energy Retrofits of existing buildings need not be intimidating. In their presentation, they provided a primer on what you need to know when planning your next major project, setting you up for success.

  • Understand key concepts for the design of zero-net carbon buildings and deep energy retrofits.

  • Investigate the processes and tools needed to successfully execute a net zero project or deep energy retrofit.

  • Examine the interplay of envelope and HVAC systems in achieving deep energy reductions.

  • Explore all-electric building systems available for designing zero-net carbon facilities.
