On Thursday, July 26, Edward McGraw and Andrew Schuster presented "Combining Technology, Beauty and Meaning in the new SEF Net Zero Energy Office Building” at the Energypath conference. The Sustainable Energy Fund is designing and building a Net Zero Energy office building to demonstrate that NZE can be achieved for the same cost as a conventional developer office building. The new SEF Headquarters will be a model of how buildings can and should be done moving forward. In this session, the design team emerged participants in the SEF design process. Participants worked in small groups to develop strategies and share ideas on how to achieve not only NZE, but also deep sustainability and resilience. The design team also shared how developed energy budgets and specific technological solutions are combined with regenerative thinking to create a building that embodies the vision and mission of the Sustainable Energy Fund.

Energypath 2018, held at DeSales University in Center Valley, Pennsylvania, is the region’s largest sustainable energy event, attracting industry professionals, policymakers, and academia throughout the region and across the United States. The goal of Energypath is to increase the knowledge of and passion for sustainable energy in the leaders of today and tomorrow.

Ed and Andrew presented with Shannon Kaplan of AKF. Shannon specializes in the design and analysis of high performance systems for buildings with an emphasis on ultra low-energy lighting systems, daylight harvesting, and on-site renewable energy.
