New York State Green Building Conference Honors David Ashley
Ashley McGraw Architects was honored and humbled by the announcement at the 2023 New York State Green Building Conference on March 3, 2023 that the annual Green Building Advocate of the Year award has been named after David Ashley. Moving forward, the David C. Ashley Green Building Advocate of the Year award will continue to be given to an individual involved in green building, either in a professional or volunteer capacity, and is prominent in promoting the need to "reduce the overall impact of the built environment on humans and the natural environment.”
In Ashley’s own words, he “believed strongly in the worth and dignity of all living things and of the planet, its natural resources, and the sun that supports us all.” He was named the Green Building Advocate of the Year at the conference in 2009.
A self-described dedicated environmentalist, Ashley was the first person in Central New York to be certified by the United States Green Building Council as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Accredited Professional. He was also a member of the task force which developed NY-CHPS, the New York State version of CHPS (Collaborative for High Performance Schools) for use in our state schools. He worked on research projects funded by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority and the U.S. Department of Energy.
The New York State Green Building Conference is the premier green building conference in the Northeast, with a progressive advisory council that has fostered the conference’s growth by consistently bringing together top green building researchers, educators, and practitioners.
We could not think of someone more fitting and well-deserving to receive the 1st David C. Ashley Green Building Advocate of the Year than Jim D’Aloisio, President, of Klepper, Hahn and Hyatt. Congratulations Jim!
