Liverpool CSD Holds Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to Celebrate Fine Arts Wing Renovation
The Liverpool Central School District held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the Fine Arts wing renovation on Monday, March 21. The primary goals of the renovation at the start of the project were to reimagine their Performing Arts facility to not only be a state-of-the-art facility that reflects the exceptionalism that is their current program - but also foster excitement within the students to develop an interest in pursuing lifelong learning of the performing arts.
The project features an expanded high bay, daylit lobby, stage, and auditorium with a mezzanine to accommodate 900+ seats (an increase from 700 seats pre-renovation), improved sightlines, lighting systems, sound systems and acoustical properties. Modernizations to the instructional spaces such as the band, orchestra, and choral rooms, practice and recording rooms, and the performing arts offices were completed to enhance the student experience and opportunities offered. The exterior courtyard space outside the main entrance was designed to provide a welcoming extension of the lobby space with amphitheater seating to support outdoor performance.
“This space, as you will see, rivals what you will find on many university campuses. Most importantly, however, what you will see is the value that is placed on the arts here in the Liverpool Central School District,” said Adam Shatraw, Director of Fine Arts. “And you will see a community including our architects, our administrators, our Board of Education members, families, businesses, partners that support the arts and arts education with such resounding fervor that facilities like these can be imagined and seen to fruition. Today, as you walk through these beautiful spaces, you will see the spirit of the arts at Liverpool and the commitment by all of those in our community to foster that spirit, to allow it to grow, and flourish.”
