Hill and Mountain Earn Accredited Learning Environment Planner (ALEP) Designation
We are pleased to announce that Kristen Hill, Educational Environment Strategist, and Melissa Mountain, Interior Designer have earned their Accredited Learning Environment Planner (ALEP) designation from the Association for Learning Environments (A4LE). According to A4LE, ALEP signifies excellence in the industry and is designed to elevate professional standards, enhance individual performance, and identify those in the educational environment industry who demonstrate the core competencies essential to the practice of planning, designing, equipping, and maintaining educational environments.
Hill explained the process for becoming an ALEP, “Melissa and I are grateful to have been a part of the 10th Cohort for the Advanced Academy. The Advanced Academy does a deep dive into the core competencies of being an ALEP: Educational Visioning, Community Engagement, Learning Environment Pre-Design Planning, Design of Learning Environments, Educational Facility Implementation and Project Management/Project Delivery, Assessment of the School Facility, and Ethics/Professionalism. It was wonderful to connect with and learn from and alongside colleagues around the country while also being able to put into practice our elevated thinking on activated project work.”
Mountain also shared her thoughts on the ALEP process, “Collaborating with professionals from around the globe who share the same passion for assessing and planning learning environments over the past year has been both rewarding and inspiring. I look forward to continuing to grow my expertise and apply researched knowledge to co-create environments that empower learners."
Hill and Mountain join Susanne Angarano, Principal, and Catherine Wolfe, Associate Principal, as Accredited Learning Environment Planners (ALEP) at Ashley McGraw Architects. Our portfolio of K-12 and Higher Education projects demonstrates how we approach educational planning and strategy.
Congratulations Kristen and Melissa!
