Susanne Angarano Spotlights Syracuse University Schine Student Center in i+D Magazine Feature
Susanne Angarano, Principal and Senior Interior Designer, spotlights the Syracuse University Schine Student Center in the September/October issue of i+D Magazine, the official publication of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). From preschool to Ph.D. programs, the article “Class in Session” looks at how learning environments are evolving to meet the needs of our changing times.
The Schine Student Center presented significant hurdles: confusing circulation, hard-to-find student programs and resources, outdated dining, and poor accommodation of those with differing abilities and backgrounds. The 108,000 SF renovation by Ashley McGraw Architects and Mackey Mitchell Architects transformed the iconic student center while provides a welcoming hub enabling easy connection to available amenities.
In the featured article, Angarano explains “You go to college not just to get knowledge but to learn, discover, and innovate. You cultivate innovations across campus by bringing diverse groups together. A lot of that happens operationally, but a lot of it can come through architecture as well.”
