Ashley McGraw Architects is pleased to announce the addition of Kristen Hill as an Educational Environment Strategist. Hill is a thought leader on stakeholder engagement, change management, and facilitation. As an Educational Environment Strategist, Hill will collaborate with our educational and community clients to evolve the understanding of project scope beyond spatial programming to consider learning, development, and aspirational vision. Additionally, she will work with the design team to facilitate conversations with diverse community groups, meet with educational stakeholders, and lead client discussions on programming, visioning, and curriculum integration with architectural design. 

Ashley McGraw Architects is pleased to announce that Nicholas Williams, AIA, has been named Principal in the firm. Williams rejoined Ashley McGraw Architects in June 2022, establishing and leading the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. “We are delighted to have Nick become a Principal with Ashley McGraw Architects,” said Matthew Broderick, President & CEO. “Since rejoining our firm and establishing our Washington, D.C. office, he has showcased a mix of leadership, design innovation, and commitment to our firm’s sustainability values. With Nick’s appointment, it will further allow him to lead our project teams and spearhead our business development efforts with the continued goal of building a robust portfolio of work in the mid-Atlantic region.”

On November 12, 2022, the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Central New York Chapter held their annual Celebration of Architecture Design Awards. The Science IV renovation at Binghamton University was recognized with an Award of Excellence, the design awards highest honor. The awards jury said: “Beautiful facade, creates great places for people to hangout and gather, excellent rework of an existing building honoring and integrating the structure, moved by the facade renovation.” Binghamton University, in conjunction with the State University Construction Fund (SUCF), commissioned Ashley McGraw Architects to re-envision the building as a new campus icon that welcomes visitors to the campus and sciences complex, in a modern, cohesive and energy efficient way.

On November 12, 2022, the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Central New York Chapter held their annual Celebration of Architecture Design Awards. The Fine Arts renovation at Liverpool High School was recognized with an Award of Merit. The awards jury said: “Stunning, restrained, impactful landscaping that opened up the exterior space, new exterior paneling freshens up the space, wood elements bring warmth to the space.” By reimagining the Performing Arts spaces, the Liverpool High School not only has a state-of-the-art facility that reflects the exceptionalism that is their current program but also fosters excitement within the students to develop an interest in pursuing lifelong learning in the performing arts.

Ashley McGraw Architects is pleased to announce the addition of Eric Joerdens as a Project Architect. Joerdens has over 9 years’ experience as a design professional with an award-winning portfolio of K-12, commercial, historic preservation, and laboratory projects. He has led the design and coordination for modernizations and new schools for the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS), Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS), and Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS). Joerdens joins as a passionate architect and collaborator.

Madeline studied at Cornell University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Design + Environmental Analysis.
