PRIVATELY DEVELOPED STUDENT HOUSING

The purpose of the project was to create a desirable student living community in a way that generates connection between living and learning within a non-collegiate environment so that students leave the University with a strong foundation and a positive impact is left on the city fostering continued growth and regeneration.

A proposed 4-story student housing apartment building is intended to support the University’s growing presence in the city. The primary purpose for this building will be to house the University’s School of Nursing undergraduate upperclassmen, School of Nursing graduate students and School of Pharmacy students. A mix of apartment units is proposed to occupy a portion of the 1st floor and the entirety of 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors; totaling a bed count of 205. Secondary functions will occupy the 1st floor; including a tenant fitness room, study and flex space, and a public co-op / co-works space.

Key project goals were to:

  • Economic revitalization of the city

  • Accomplish University strategic priorities

  • Capitalize on Mission and Vision of the School of Nursing and the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences

  • Provide a convenient and high-quality living option to students
