Early Education Center. John Hopkins University

The play space at Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Early Childhood Center was completed in August 2021. studioMLA worked with the Center’s staff and John Hopkins to design a nature-based space for infants and toddlers. We removed concrete and poured rubber surfacing and created a more natural play environment using natural materials.

Working with the Center’s staff, with a long list of desired activities, we creatively fit a trike track, sand play area with play counters, interactive water spout with a dry stream bed and play bridge, a play hill with embankment slide planted with durable plant materials, a natural hollowed log, musical elements, gardening boxes, and trike storage.
