WALBERTA PARK ELEMENTARY RENOVATION
WESTHILL cENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT
The Phase II capital project was approved by district residents in March 2010 and consisted of a combination of additions and renovations to all four schools within the district. In this project, the Board of Education, District, and design team set priorities designed to improve students’ learning environments, a key step toward realizing the District’s 20/20 vision for 21st Century learning. “The scope of work directly benefits our students in several academic areas, the arts and physical education athletics,” said Stephen Bocciolatt, Former Superintendent of Westhill Central School District.
A key component of the project at Walberta Park School was the renovations of classrooms to accommodate the District’s shift from half-day to full-day kindergarten. The library / computer rooms and art classrooms were expanded and renovated. Also, the existing space was expanded and renovated for special education, reading, speech, ELL and OT/PT.
Other scope items included: new music room 731 SF addition, new energy efficient windows, addition of a secure entrance, replacement of clock and sound systems, and electrical upgrades.
